Name, address and purpose
The Society is the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri (Singapore), registered at 61 Ubi Rd 1, #02-27 Oxley Bizhub, Singapore 408727. Its objects are friendship and solidarity among people with ties to the Carabinieri; preserving the historical, ethical and cultural values of the Carabinieri through non-political, non-military activities; cultural, heritage and commemorative events; support for Carabinieri in congedo and their families living in Singapore; and collaboration with local and Italian cultural institutions. It does not import foreign causes or politics into Singapore.
Affiliation with ANC Italy
The Society is affiliated to the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri (ANC) in Rome, Italy.
Membership categories and subscriptions
There are three categories. Ordinary: Carabinieri in congedo living in Singapore. Family: family members of Ordinary members. Associate: anyone who supports the objects of the Society and wants to take part. Under-18s need the written consent of a parent or guardian. There is no entrance fee; the annual subscription is set by the General Meeting.
General meetings and member authority
The General Meeting of members is the highest authority of the Society. An Annual General Meeting is held within three months of the end of the financial year to consider the accounts and, when due, to elect the Honorary Auditors. Voting members may request an Extraordinary General Meeting (at least 25% of voting members, or thirty, whichever is fewer). Proxy voting is not allowed unless the Constitution provides otherwise.
Accounts
Two Honorary Auditors, elected each year, audit the accounts. The financial year runs from 1 January to 31 December.
Visitors and prohibitions
Visitors and guests may attend but do not have the privileges of members. The Society does not engage in trade union or political activity, and does not raise funds from the public without the licence or permit required by law.
Amendments, interpretation and dissolution
The Constitution can be changed only by a two-thirds vote at a General Meeting and with the prior written approval of the Registrar of Societies. Dissolution requires the consent of three-fifths of the voting members resident in Singapore; remaining funds are disposed of as the General Meeting decides or donated to approved charities in Singapore.
